Important news for Manufacturers
The
draft proposal for an EEE Directive has been withdrawn. It has been
replaced by a draft proposal for an EuE Directive.
The new proposal covers equipment that uses energy (including fossil,
renewable and electrical) as well as equipment that generates energy.
It seeks to establish both a framework and methodology to improve
the eco-design of equipment. It focuses on energy efficiency as well
as the other aspects eco-design covered by the former proposal for
an EEE directive.
Its being put forward jointly by DG Enterprise (industry) and DG TrEn
(transport and energy) and is being proposed as an Article 95 (single
market) directive.
